Last but not the least, let us give a huge shout-out and appreciation to our yeti Bimal Raj Puri who worked tirelessly for many months along-side yeti Sharad Sherchan to bring #40+JoshAlive in our community, without their push & pull to bring the veterans together for a Sunday Game, this victory would not have been possible.

Jamghat and Danfe

by Futbal Premi
Vancouver and Calgary. September 3. Finally it happened. If someone didn`t know the background of these two sporting events, Jamghat & Danfe sounds like a name of two brothers lost in a village fair. LOL. Yeti`s trip to Calgary for Danfe Cup and Jamghat Sports in Vancouver happened on the same date! Kasto Juxeko? Danfe Cup is an annual sports tournament organized by Danfe Club in Calgary. Jamghat sports is a part of Pacific Northwest Nepali Jamghat picnic event hosted in turns by partner cities namely Seattle, WA, Portland, OR and Vancouver, BC. This year Nepal Cultural Society of British Columbia, Vancouver played the host.
HimSoc @ Danfe, Calgary: Niraj Sunuwar, Pritam Sunwar, Bibek Adhikari, Vikrant Thapa, Saurav Vaidhya, Shasin Hamal, Shaurab Hamal, Riwaz Karki, Benjamin Neupane, Nawang Sherpa, Bimal Puri, Navin Dahal, Pawan Adhikari, Uttam Yarphel, Lobsang Rabgyal, Dipak Marahatta.

Saurav Vaidhya
Call it our A-Team or HimSoc Red Team, seventeen yetis made a trip and participated in Danfe Soccer Tournament held in Calgary among ten strong soccer teams. HimSoc won the first game with 3-2 against Himalayan Patriots, Edmonton. In the second game, HimSoc lost to Danfe Club, Calgary 3-2 in a close fought battle.
Nevertheless, we have two feathers in our hat. First, our very own himsoc striker yeti Saurav Vaidhya clinched the highest scorer trophy of the tournament by netting 4 goals in two games. Second, our team won the Fair Play award.
HimSoc Blue @ Janghat: Biju Tamrakar, Binod Marahatta, Biru Maharjan, Jeevan Malla, Khelen Upadhaya, Prem KC, Rabjor Dawa, Tenzing Sherpa, Rajib Paudel, Roshan Bimali, Sharad Sherchan, Suraj Shrestha, Sushil Nepal, Tashi, Tenzing, Vikas Lama
In Vancouver, Jamghat event was held in a picturesque Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. For the first time, our Himalayan Sporting Club, Victoria brothers ferried early in the morning with their ever glowing enthusiasm to play and participate in Jamghat sports. This year we had four teams competing for soccer and six teams for volleyball, two each from Vancouver and Seattle, one each from Portland and Victoria. In one group, HimSoc Blue Team beat Portland in an impressive game by HimSoc`s B-Team to reach the finals. In the other group, Seattle reached finals beating Victoria in a close match.
Goalie: Baabu Bikash Malla
In the final game which lasted for 70 minutes, Seattle FC proved too good for Vancouver and emerged Jamghat Champions with a huge score! HimSocs veteran defenders worked like well oiled machines but their hardwork was outplayed by young agile Seattle players with their super fast moves and accurate passes which almost looked like highly programmed computerized robots let loose in the field. Had not been countless classic saves by our goalie Baabu Bikash Malla, the score would have climbed higher and higher and reached Mt. Everest. LOL.
